About

Born in Geneva to Mauritian parents, Ravi grew up between two cultures — a rich background that shaped his musical sensitivity.

He first studied classical piano at the Geneva Conservatoire (CPMDT) at the age of 8. At 13 he taught himself guitar through pop-punk, then turned to jazz.

He immersed himself in jazz and improvised music through the AMR in Geneva, training at jam sessions, with musical encounters abroad during a year in England and a few months in Colombia.

Through a fascination for odd meters, Ravi weaves complex rhythmic patterns into musical fluidity and harmonic sensitivity.

He obtained a Master's degree in Jazz Pedagogy at the HEMU (Lausanne) in 2024, where he studied with Vinz Vonlanthen, Sylvain Luc, Nelson Veras and Emil Spanyi. For the past six years, the guitarist has been leading and composing for his progressive jazz/rock quartet Ravi Ramsahye PROTOTYPE.

Born in the guitarist's teenage bedroom and shaped by the worlds of anime, video games and midwest emo, the band turns these influences into a cinematic, emotionally honest sound.

Written in Mauritius after years away from his roots, the album marks a return to origins — carrying a culture of community and a desire to make jazz accessible beyond its usual boundaries.
